PALM TREE DISEASES
Fusarium wilt is very host specific, with the primary hosts being Syagrus romanzoffiana (queen palm) and Washingtonia robusta (Mexican fan palm or Washington palm). It is caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. palmarum.
. Disease Management
Once the palm is affected by this disease, there is no cure. Currently, there is no method for preventing this disease, either.
Based on observations in Florida, the pathogen appears to be spread primarily by airborne spores (conidia) moved by wind, and possibly birds or insects.
Washingtonian Palms at the front were all diseased , will be replaced in center island with 4 Sylvester palms. (Phoenix sylvestris)
Unfortunately, several residents have had palm trees die suddenly , caused by this disease.
Keep an eye on your own palms, yellowing of the fronds is one of the first signs.
BOARD MEETINGS VS HOA MEETINGS
There seems to be confusion between a Board of Directors meeting and a HOA community meeting.
The board of directors meets 1x per month on the 3rd Wednesday. Meeting usually lasts for 3 hours.
The 9 AM start works best for the board as 2 of the members have full time jobs that extend into the evening hours.
Anyone can attend the meeting from the community that desires.
The agenda for a meeting is attached so you can see what Is covered in a BOD meeting.
Usually it is just the everyday business of the community that takes place.
Occasionally we invite a guest to come to tell of any new changes we need to pass on to the residents.
The new police chief wanted to meet the board and because of the problems with speeders and parking,
I posted a notice so that any interested resident could come and meet the chief as well.
The annual HOA meeting will be held on the 1ST Tuesday in April. This meeting will be held in the evening at the
Apopka community center and the Mayor, council members, police chief and fire chief will all be present to answer any and all questions
